Privacy concerns increase for Facebook login
Facebook recently announced a new feature that goes by the name frictionless sharing. The feature, which is also known as automatic sharing, allows the users of Facebook to automatically share any story they read over the news websites such as Yahoo, Washington Post or any other online media. The feature has given some scare to the public, no matter what they read can now be seen by everyone on their wall. The frictionless sharing feature of facebook does not care whether
you wish to share a story or not, it will simply share anything that you go through on the media sites. As a result, your friends can know what you read instantly and they can like it or share it further. The frictionless sharing starts when you allow Facebook to install an app that will share the articles you read. After installing the app however, the user has no such control over which articles to share, the app simply shares whatever you read. This may not scare some of the new generation, but for people who care about their privacy a lot, this app is a complete pack of scare for them.
Since its release a few months ago, many people have already started getting rid of the app because of its auto sharing feature. If the developers gave some control to the people on what they wish to share, it would have been much better. One other thing that this app has brought with is too much information. If one or more of your friends are comfortable reading political articles, those articles will appear on your wall as well, leaving your wall tainted by information that you do not wish to care about. Although this isn’t as annoying as it sounds at the moment, but as soon as more publications join hands with the app, you will be seeing irrelevant articles all day long.
Frictionless sharing will provide Facebook with a lot of in depth data on their users. It will allow them to effectively record your activities and then provide ad companies this data for target marketing.
