Underworld :Awakening
Kate Beckinsale is back with “Underground: Awakening” to make all wonder that if vampire and werewolf are real or not. The vampire/werewolf series started its journey in 2003 with the movie named “Underworld”. After that movie the second film “Underworld: Evolution” was released in 2006 and “Underworld: Rise of the Lycan” was released in 2009. Among them “Underworld: Rise of the Lycan” focused on the origins of some of these films character and the reason behind of the
Vampire-werewolf war which is the main theme of this series. Now the series continued with their fourth movie “Underworld: Awakening”.
The first film of this saga started with Selene, the beautiful vampire death dealer, who is determine to kill all Lycans (werewolves who are able to shift between human and wolf form) to take revenge for killing her family but as the film keeps going on Selene falls in love with a human and afterwards a hybrid Michael Corvin. Now the previous series carries the stories ob the Vampire-Lycans war but the new film “Underworld: Awakening” is about a war between Selene and a bio-tech company. In this film she has to stop that company from creating an army of super-Lycans. The name Awakening is entitled because here Selene awakes from a 15 year coma and then she discovered her 14 year old daughter who is a vampire-Lycan hybrid, which is the most interesting attraction of this movie.
Actress Kate Beckinsale is the vampire warrior Selene in these series. After starred in the first two she was absent in the third one. But she is back in the new fourth series and the movie made an estimated $25.4 million. Where Sony had expected that that the film would end up in the low-$20 million range the reason behind of its success is Beckinsale's return according to Rory Bruer, the studio's president of worldwide distribution.
This new series is shot in 3-D and cost Sony and Lakeshore Entertainment about $70 million to produce. 59%of the viewers who enjoyed thus movie in this weekend decided to buy the pricier ticket to see it in that format. And according to CinemaScore, audiences liked the film.
