Stop Sachin and Sehwag
Ian Chappell feels that if Sachin and Sehwag gets going then Australia might have some headache to deal with. Australians could deal with all other Indian batsmen but Sachin Tendulkar. They are yet to find any answer for the ‘Little Master’. According to Chappell they will need to find a solution soon. Sachin Tendulkar looked ominous with his touches. Chappell was doubtful about Gambhir’s performance. He said the Delhi lad is discomfort with the extra bounce. He seemed nervous with
the deliveries outside off-stump and if it continues then the Australian bowlers will have no trouble tormenting him.
Ian also felt that Australians need to get Virender Sehwag out cheaply otherwise he can pose threat for them. Sehwag is aggressive in his approach and if he is not restricted then India might score freely. He was however happy with the way Aussie pacers bowled at Sehwag. He said that the deliveries are very testing for the aggressor and fuller length deliveries are really exploiting Viru’s lack of foot movement. If Sehwag can be shut down then India’s runs will be reduced by about 50% he believes. Sending Tendulkar and Sehwag back quickly can mean Australia’s dominance and India’s downfall and they can ‘thrash’ India then.
He was also praiseful of Australia captain Michael Clarke especially with the way he handled pace attack at the MCG but mentioned that he needs to work on his defensive technique. Clarke is a pro-active skipper and is courageous. He mentioned that Clarke needs to tighten up his own batting defenses so that the opposition doesn’t get an upper hand to his impressive captaincy. Ian Chappell has also questioned MS Dhoni’s “conservative” approach on the final day of the Test. He said “MS Dhoni set the tone for India’s slide to oblivion on the final day at the MCG.” MS did not attack when it was the call of the day. He was also critical of India’s inability to shave-off Australia’s tail-end. In both the innings Dhoni’s men found it difficult to get the wickets of the tail-enders and this is something Dhoni needs to look at carefully before SCG Test.
