Barca moves closer to a possible showdown with Real Madrid
Barcelona thrashed Osasuna in the Copa del Rey last-16 tie. Although this was the first leg but right now it seems an impossible task for Osasuna to come back from four goals down when they met again at home. Barcelona really handed Osasuna a football lesson to Osasuna the last time they met, beating them by 8 goals to null. Osasuna must have thought the history is repeating when Cesc Fabregas scored twice in just 18 minutes of the start of the game. Fabregas’ second goal was
an amazing chip.
But after that, Barcelona found it difficult to break Osasuna’s defense. Guardiola then send his main man – Lionel Messi in the second half. Messi did what he was asked to do. He scored in the 72nd and 90th minutes to end the match with a 4-0 scoreline. His first goal was a close-range header and the second one was an effort from the edge of the box. Now Messi has a goal tally of 31 in all competitions this season.
On the other hand Real Madrid fought hard to come back from a 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Malaga in their first leg of the same competition. Now both Madrid and Barca are on the verge for a clash in the quarter-final given the result of the second leg goes in their favor. If they meet it will be a repetition of the last season’s final when Real beat Barcelona 1-0 to win the Copa del Rey.
