Thierry Henry is back at Arsenal

Thierry Henry completed all the formalities to once again become a Gunner. It is a short term deal for just two months. He is coming from Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls to mainly fill in the void left by Gervinho and Chamakh as they will be representing their country in African Nations Cup. Henry is considered his legend at Arsenal and the 34 year old former French international striker left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2007 and now comes back to start his second session with the Gunners. He is expected to be available for the FA Cup tie against Leeds on Monday.

Arsene Wenger who is at the helm in Arsenal from 1996, is ecstatic at reuniting with his former captain. He said that he is very happy and both of their (Henry’s and Wenger’s) desire has been fulfilled. Now Thierry will don Arsenal shirt till February and represent his former club till February. Then he will be off to United States to play for New York Red Bulls at Major League Soccer.

Major League Soccer is going through break and manager Wenger thought it was the perfect time to bring back his once main man. Henry is equally ecstatic. He is still finding it difficult to believe that he will once again represent his favorite club. Henry was fine with the plan he was told and he said that he is not coming back to be a hero or prove anything. Rather he is coming at the Emirates Stadium to help the team. He cleared that to the reporters that he is coming to fill in the gap left by Marouane and Gervinho for representing at the Africa Cup of Nations. So he is expecting to be at the bench more than on the field. He will just be an option for Wenger, if he wants to consider.

Henry also sent a message to the New York Red Bulls fans as well. Saying that he would not play in Europe again and this is just a loan deal for two months. He said that it is difficult to refuse Arsenal but he will be back in due time and hope to win the MLS Cup with the Red Bulls. He feels that it is a win- win situation. However Henry has not played top-flight football for a long time. So the question remains whether he will be able to add any significant impact to the current squad and how much he can help Arsenal to revive their fortune especially now that he has left playing at the top for a long time and has been disassociated with Arsenal for a long time.
