Lampard vs ManU

Lampard will not come at Manchester United

Recently reports are surfacing that Sir Alex Ferguson is planning for a shock move for Frank Lampard from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford before the January transfer window closes. But Ferguson has brushed off such possibilities. Successive losses to Blackburn and Newcastle has once again reignited the hot debate that Ferguson
should buy players in January especially in the midfield and defense. Midfield has been a concern for United in recent times with the retirement of Paul Scholes and the long-term injuries to Cleverley and Fletcher.

Lampard on the other hand has fallen out-of-favor under Andre Villas-Boas and is looking to move out of the club where he made his name. Now only 18 months are left in his contract and reports were roaming around that it would be a smart move for United to add some experience at its midfield and Lampard should be the right choice for that.

Though Ferguson brushed off claims that Lampard is coming at United but did not deny that he is interested in the veteran player. Ferguson asked the reporters do they really believe that Chelsea will sell Frank Lampard at Manchester United. He said that the second half the season is important for all the clubs and Chelsea is no different. They also want something and “If they want to try and win the league they will need to have all their best players.”

So the question remains that whether Sir Alex is interested to bring the midfielder at Old Trafford or not. Because Sir Alex did not mention that he or United is not interested in the midfielder, rather he mentioned that Chelsea would not want to leave Lampard at this point of time. He once again reiterated that he doesn’t want the players who are available and would not restore to buying second-rated players. The players he wants are not available. He would now stick with his current squad rather than bringing in players who will not get a single game because they are not up to the level at which United plays.

United will play Manchester City at FA Cup and if they suffer a similar set back like their previous two Premier League games then Sir Alex Ferguson will once again be a subject of harsh criticism. Already many are finding many of Ferguson’s optimisms unfounded.
