Alter for Chronic Pain

Laser therapy a safe alternative for chronic pain

So many of us suffer from back, neck and shoulder pain—but what do we do about it? We pump ourselves full of medications, taking daily risks that we won’t mix the wrong pills or take too many by mistake—and often we don’t really know much about the medicines we put in our bodies. Or we opt for surgery, which literally opens us up to risks by the bucketful. Infections, more pain in recovery, or unforeseen surgical complications can make what they call a “routine” surgery something

you regret forever. But now, the FDA has granted clearance for the first ever cold laser therapy for pain. It’s a non-invasive procedure that’s been through two clinical trials with successful results.

It sounds futuristic; after all, lasers aren’t traditionally used to heal pain in this way. But this method is different. Laser therapy for back pain and laser therapy for neck pain utilizes low-level laser therapy, which has no heat whatsoever. There is no risk of burn-related damage to any tissue, surface or deep. All you get is your ability do simple things again. Having back pain is a huge handicap to being able to perform everyday tasks, even ones as simple as feeding the dog or getting the mail, much less driving to work and standing at an assembly line for hours and hours.

The same is true for neck pain. We don’t realize how often we turn our heads until we simply can’t any longer. There’s nothing worse than the shooting pain you feel when you cock your head in the wrong way, sending waves of pain throughout your whole body. Often, those feeling neck or shoulder pain also feel back pain. To feel both or all three at one time can be devastating. It can even be too difficult to lift the phone and make an appointment. And then when you manage to get to the doctor, he’ll prescribe slow-acting medication that he thinks will work. Meanwhile, you still can’t move or lift anything, and you’re just sitting around waiting for the medicine to kick in.

Get your life back, and look into cold laser therapy. You don’t have to sit around and wait, you can get results and get back to work. And these days, getting to work is more valuable than ever. So do your research and weigh all your options. In the end, it’s about you, and what you’re comfortable doing. Just remember, you don’t want to make a decision you’re comfortable with only to sit around uncomfortable.
