190 million Old Dinosaur Nest Site Discovered
The history of dinosaurs has always made man curious. After discovering the first proof of their existence scientists & researchers have been trying heart & soul to know more & more about them. As a proof of that our scientists have made another significant discovery of oldest dinosaur nest. At South Africa’s Golden Gate Highlands National Park the oldest dinosaur nest has been found in a 25 m stretch of rock. Paleontologists assume that this site is 190 million old & 100 million older
than the last one.

The fossils are of the prosauropod Massospondylus which is considered a relative of the long- necked sauropods for instance the Diplodocus. The fossils also includes embryonic dinosaur skeleton which are described by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. 10 separate nests were found containing such fossils. In the earliest known case these kind of nesting was called “colonial nesting”. The researchers also think that there are many more nesting sites embedded in the rock waiting to be discovered through natural weathering process.
Even though we have very little information about dinosaur fossils, this recent discovery of the colonial nesting gives us the hope that gradually all the information about dinosaurs will be revealed to us. It has boosted the never ending thirst of our scientists to know the unknown.
